A little bit of recent history.
About
With the help of many BMW enthusiasts, the Cascade Roundel Society began
operations under its former name "Northwest
2002 Special Interest Group" (NW 2002 SIG) in January of 2001.
Since then,
the idea of a name change became apparent as many classic BMW owners suggested
they felt slightly alienated as a result of the organization's title
(also, the server crashed losing all of our files). In October of
2007 with your help, this new "opportunity"
made us rethink what we wanted to accomplish and how to best execute it.
The term "roundel"
was chosen because of its common usage for the BMW logo -specifically
within the classic BMW community; And "Cascade" because
of its association with winding roads, scenic views and cool mountain air.
Arguably
it's also the closest thing resembling the range of the original
BMW proving ground, the Bavarian Alps. Attributes
we all desired when imagining
the perfect driving experience.
Though we are the same group, we made the easy
decision of re-vamping our brand to convey our
commitment to all classic BMWs; No longer solely devoted to 2002s, but
now also to owners of 1600s, 1602s, 1500s, 1800s, and 2000s as well. As our
previous name suggests, since the 2002 models are obviously more abundant,
the CRS will still highlight this model as there is an overwhelming demand
to do
so.
That
said, all are welcome to join us!
In addition to sponsoring and creating events, trips and rallies throughout
the year, the CRS provides a resource for all things classic BMW. We hope
you will take advantage of the contents given herein, and that you will
assist us in becoming paying Members and active participants; Thus, retaining
this historic significance.
Thanks and happy Bimmering,
Your friends at the Cascade Roundel Society
